Talmont-sur-Gironde, in addition to its magnificent Sainte-Radegonde church, a magnificent Romanesque church built in the 12th century by the Benedictine monks of Saint-Jean d'Angely Abbey, houses the Musée des Trésors de Talmont et de la Pêche, which traces Talmont's history and particularly its fishing activities.
Set up in the old school, near the church, this communal museum offers photographs, plans, models... and presents the hidden history of the site.
The "Closed City", built by the English in 1284, destroyed by the Spanish in 1652, almost became an American port in 1917 and then a marina in 1972.
A classroom is reconstructed, with class photos displayed, so the history of the village can last.
On the ground lies a wooden "yawl", a traditional boat, one of the last built on the estuary.
