Every year, from December to January, in the northeastern tip of the Gers, the communes around Miradoux prepare for the festive season and adorn themselves with sparkling Christmas lights and decorations.
In the land of foie gras and armagnac, passionate volunteers organize, design and build animated nativity scenes on a new theme every year.
Many visitors discover beautiful villages and original nativity scenes.
This year's Ronde des Crèches, an event inspired by a similar tradition in the streets of Havana, was initiated by Véronique Germain, a resident of Gimbrède, and brings the enchantment of the end-of-year festivities to the Gers Lomagne region.
Every year, this tour of 8 themed cribs in the communes of Saint-Antoine, Plieux, Peyrecave, Gimbrède, Miradoux, Flamarens, Castet-Arrouy and Mansonville attracts over 25,000 people of all ages.
Visitors can admire the delicate work involved in constructing the illuminations in the heart of the villages, along a 60 km signposted route.
Each year, a different theme is proposed, taking the public on a journey through history, literature and the most beautiful regions of the world.
In 2002, it was the Fables de la Fontaine, in 2003, the Islands, in 2004, Tales, in 2005, Inventions, in 2006, Nursery Rhymes, in 2007, Alphonse Daudet, in 2008, Ancient Civilizations, in 2009, Folklore of our regions, in 2010, European Capitals, in 2011, Cinema, in 2012, Comics... in 2016, “Autrefois dans nos campagnes”, in 2017, “La conquête de l'ouest américain” and in 2018 “Les fêtes traditionnelles”.
