Located in the former antique shop of singer Suzy Solidor, the Museum of Contemporary Jewelry invites the general public to discover this art form, which avant-garde designers from France and elsewhere are raising to the highest level every day.
While temporary exhibitions allow visitors to discover the world of one or more artists around a theme, the permanent collection, comprising 300 pieces, offers a history of contemporary jewelry, beginning in the 1960s.
In 1995, the city was awarded the “Ville et métiers d'art” label for its work in promoting contemporary jewelry.
Cagnes-sur-Mer is the only city in France to be labeled for this activity of artist residencies in the Maison Solidor. Some of them, whose research is dedicated to jewelry, also have access to the “Crypte” workshop equipped with jewelry-making workbenches.
In 1995, Cagnes-sur-Mer joined the very exclusive circle of cities and crafts for its involvement in promoting contemporary jewelry.
The contemporary jewelry museum “Espace Solidor,” which is at the origin of this movement, is recognized for the quality of its collection and exhibitions.
