The Mill of Cocussotte

Located near Duras and its castle, the Moulin de Cocussotte, listed as a French park and garden, is set on an island with ponds, water circuits, waterfalls and a pontoon framing a water mill with a moving water wheel, landscaped banks, and a mill spout.

In the garden there is a traditional bread oven and a hexagonal kiosk.

The guide, owner of the site and "raconteur de pays" will introduce you to its history, tell you about the river, its navigation and will make you discover an anguillère. After admiring the vertical wheel in operation, a refreshment will be offered.

The guided tour consists of 3 parts :

- history of the mill and data on the vertical and horizontal water wheels,

- history of the canalization of the Dropt: projects, works, activities,

- discovery of an eel trap, a very rare fixed trap for the capture of eels.

Two gîtes on the river bank, a must for fishing and calm, and a 90m2 guest room with swimming pool complete the tourist offer proposed at the mill.

The mill of Cocussotte was awarded, in 2006, a 1st prize, by the General Council of the Lot et Garonne within the framework of the operation " Fleurir la France
