At the La Chagnée estate, Gérard and Marie-Ange Baudoin offer a very unusual stay in a haystack. This Haystack, now an unusual home, is a chestnut dome with a wooden floor, insulated, waterproof, and then covered with vegetation.
Spanning 16 m², it is located on a pitch at the 3-star farm campsite.
It was built by Jean-Charles Meunier, who, after working as a lawyer for 30 years, became a carpenter.
From the terrace of the Haystack, at sunrise, you can see the pond and its banks, where frogs, ducks, herons, squirrels, and various birds mingle. The campsite is on an organic farm. Residents of La Meule de Foin can also enjoy a country breakfast at the owners' house.
La Chagnée also houses a 10-site, 3-star campsite, three fishing lodges, and a 3-star guesthouse.
La Chagnée is located in the heart of the Puy du Fou, Futuroscope, and Marais Poitevin triangle. The Palais River flows through Saint-Aubin-le-Cloud. The Nombril du Monde and the Jardin des Histoires are nearby, as is Parthenay, a land of art and history. Gardens and granite sites characterize this area of the Gâtine, which offers numerous hiking trails.
