Labenne Zoo: a journey to the heart of the five continents

Close to the beach, 1 km away, in an exceptional 5-hectare setting, Labenne zoo has been open to the public since March 27, 2012. Véronique and Damien take visitors on a journey to the heart of the five continents.

The Labenne zoo welcomes over 85,000 visitors a year, making it the No. 1 private tourist attraction in the Landes region.)

Wolves, zebras, 3 species of lemur, wallabies, over 10 species of parrot, marabou, dromedary, raccoon, emu, owl, deer, Patagonian hare, mongoose, a mini-farm... over 300 animals, more than 65 species and numerous births every year - that's the zoo in a nutshell.

A little history...
In 1998, Philippe de Parédès founded the Parc Animalier de Labenne.
Passionate about the animal world, Philippe de Parédès owned a personal collection of animals and wished to share his passion with the people of Labenne, so he bought land in Labenne-Océan.
In 2009, the founder sold the park to a first buyer, then in spring 2012, Véronique Darrieulat and Damien Carles took it over and named it “Zoo de Labenne”.

In 2013, the “Ile aux Lémuriens” was created, followed by the “Grande volière d'Aùmérique du Sud”...

A picnic area and playground within the Zoo make for an enjoyable stay with family and friends.
