Pablo Picasso is buried in the grounds of Château de Vauvenargues

Pablo Ruiz Picasso, born in Malaga, Spain, on October 25, 1881, died in Mougins on April 8, 1973, aged 91. A Spanish painter, draughtsman and sculptor, he spent most of his life in France.
An artist using all media for his work, he is considered the founder of Cubism with Georges Braque and a fellow artist of Surrealism. He produced almost 50,000 works, including 1,885 paintings, 1,228 sculptures, 2,880 ceramics, 7,089 drawings, 342 tapestries, 150 sketchbooks and 30,000 prints...
Pablo Picasso is buried at Château de Vauvenargues  in the Bouches-du-Rhône region of France, where the château was built on a Roman site and later became the property of the Counts of Provence and the Church of Aix. It is linked to the memory of the famous King René, who gave the château and its lands in 1474 to his personal physician, Pierre Robin d'Angers.
Through the marriage of François de Clapiers to Marguerite de Séguirand in 1548, the estate would belong to the de Clapiers family for two and a half centuries. Two years after the great plague of 1720, to thank Joseph de Clapiers, consul of Aix, for his devotion during the contagion that decimated the population, King Louis XV made the lands of Vauvenargues into a Marquisate.
The château was sold in 1943, stripped of its furnishings, and passed through various hands, notably those of the Association pour la gestion des œuvres sociales de la Marine, before being purchased in September 1958 by Pablo Picasso, in whose park he is buried alongside Jacqueline Picasso.
The château is now owned by Picasso's descendants.
It was listed in the Inventaire supplémentaire des monuments historiques by decree of January 15, 1929.
