The unique Domme cave in Périgord

Located beneath the bastide town of Domme, in Périgord, the cave of the same name is the largest natural cave in Périgord Noir.
Access to the cave is via an opening in the village square, and at the end of the visit, a panoramic elevator takes you back up to the Dordogne valley.
The cave is a succession of fairly narrow tunnels leading to several chambers where you can discover a huge number of concretions.
Colonnades, stalactites and stalagmites are just some of the prehistoric gems to be found in an underground passageway that stretches 450 m from the main square to the public garden.
In 2021, the grotto has been given a facelift, with a redesigned pathway and new, more environmentally-friendly lighting.
In 2022, the grotto will be equipped with lighting effects and a musical presentation at the end of the visit.

A guided tour will help you better understand the importance of this unique site in Périgord.

Just outside the cave, you'll find a local store selling minerals, jewelry, souvenirs, books, games and toys on a variety of themes: medieval prehistory, nature, Périgord and local produce.

Guided tours at variable times. Call 05 53 31 71 01 for information.
Tours in English or Spanish for groups by prior arrangement.
The temperature in the cave is 13/15°c.
