In 1992, Jean-Claude Bernard opened his wireless museum in Nanteuil in the Deux-Sèvres.
With his wife, enlightened collectors, as enthusiasts are often called, he offers in his museum more than 600 pieces from the famous "poste à galène" (1905) to the sets of the 1950s.
A passion which was surely born the day he was 14 years old, when he received a radio as a gift.
When he retired, he started to collect such sets.
"We don't look for a lot of objects, but we look for one in particular. Then, one thing leading to another, you get into the game and you look for another one, from a different period, from a different brand," he told a local newspaper.
Since the museum's inception, this passion has only grown and grown.
When it opened, 250 pieces were on display. Today, there are 600 in working order, from the galena set, which broadcast information and music throughout the 20th century, to the first radios, the first telephones and the beginning of television. Jean-Claude Bernard offers guided tours of his museum throughout the year to discover the history of telegraphy and wireless telephony from the first sets to transistors. And no two are alike
You will also discover, exclusively, one of the old projectors of the cinema of Saint-Maixent-L'Ecole!
This diversity of devices also makes its richness.
"The oldest one I found dates from 1896. It is an Italian telegraph, the same model as the one that was mounted on the Titanic. The public I receive is often surprised by the material on display," he explains.
