A herd of llamas in an exceptional environment, a small corner of Bolivia in the heart of the Ariege Pyrenees: a change of scenery, softness and complicity with the llamas.
Laurence and Eduardo, " llameros " welcome you and share with you their profession and their passion for llamas and the mountain environment, in the heart of the magnificent village of Saleix at 900m of altitude, in the valley of Vicdessos.
These gentle, curious and endearing animals have a special relationship with young and old.
The breeding counts about thirty llamas on about forty hectares.
For many years, between Bolivia and the Pyrenees, llamas have been bred, selected and trained for bush clearing, trekking, carrying, wool production and transformation and for the greatest pleasure of all!
On the farm they also produce apple juice from old orchards as well as aromatic plants for cooking and herbal teas.
All the little llamas are reserved and leave for their new territories!
The llamas are mowed once a year.
Their fleece is known for its fineness, softness, warmth and resistance with a wide range of natural colors, from white to black through gray and brown.
The annual shearing allows to collect about 2 to 3 kg of wool per animal.
The Farm is certified in Organic Agriculture
In coherence with the work of the farm, the stockbreeders are engaged with other service providers of open nature in a quality approach carried by the Agency of Tourist Development of Ariège:
The farm is open for visits in the middle of the herd and walks in small groups. Don't forget to make an appointment before going there.
Farm products store: wool, herbal teas, aromatic plants... open every day from 5 to 6 pm.
