"Where is the grave of Mr. Brassens? »
This little sentence is pronounced a thousand times at the entrance to the Marine Cemetery of Sète.
The Marine Cemetery is at the foot of Mont Saint-Clair, when the road leading to the summit begins to rise.
Paul Valéry or Jean Vilar have their last homes there, but no Georges Brassens!
So the visitor, in dispair, just has to get back into his car and go down towards La Corniche.
He had sung Monsieur Georges: "Supplique pour être enterré sur la plage de Sète" (beg to be buried on the beach at Sète).
Well, he's not quite on the beach of La Corniche, but not very far away, it's at the "cemetery of the poor", as they say here, that he lies next to his parents and Püppchen, his companion for eternity.
Not far from the cemetery, the Brassens area pays homage to the local child.
A lot of music, documents and memories are gathered there.
