The valley of hell is located not far from Saint-Léger de Peyre in the Gévaudan.
Formed naturally by the regressive erosion of the river Crueize, the gorges are about 400 meters deep in places!
In spite of the narrowness of the valley, a small road crosses it as well as
a railway line of the XIXth century, Béziers - Neussargues, for which was necessary the construction of the Viaduc de l'Enfer, conceived by Bauby and Boyer the designers of the viaduct of Garabit of Eiffel.
The road that crosses the Enfer Valley is quite narrow but some facilities facilitate the crossings and allow to take a break to admire the landscape and the Enfer Viaduct!
The vegetation of the valley changes according to the exposure of the slopes and offers varied landscapes to this natural heritage.
A great opportunity for a walk or a bike ride...
