The Seaquarium, an authentic Palace of the Sea

The Palais de la Mer is Europe's third largest aquarium in terms of capacity and the leading shark aquarium.

This 2,400 m² aquarium is home to more than 2,000 Mediterranean and tropical fish, as well as more than 25 species of sharks, octopuses, moray eels, jellyfish, scorpion fish, clown fish, cow fish, rays, sharks, sea lions, seals, and turtles.

There are six areas to explore

- Mediterranean area
- Tropical area
- The Sharkarium
- Marine mammal pool
- Plastic Invasion
- Imaginarium

The Seaquarium is home to a non-profit care center created in 2003, CESTMed (Center for the Study and Protection of Mediterranean Sea Turtles).
This organization works primarily to protect and conserve sea turtles in the Mediterranean Sea by rehabilitating injured sea turtles in their natural environment that would not survive without human intervention and care.

Another organization, the Marine Institute for Mediterranean Ecosystems, also known as the Seaquarium Marine Institute, supports the preservation of Mediterranean lagoon and marine environments and species, particularly in the Gulf of Lion and the Bay of Aigues-Mortes.

The Seaquarium Marine Institute, recognized as a Center for Scientific, Technical, and Industrial Culture (CCSTI), has enhanced its visitor experience with a new educational, innovative, interactive, and immersive pool entirely dedicated to Marine Protected Areas (MPAs). This unique facility in France aims to raise awareness among the public and professionals about the crucial issues of marine conservation in the Mediterranean.

The Seaquarium Institut Marin has created a gallery space in its shop dedicated to artists, which is free and open to all visitors.
