The Museum of the Bastides of Monflanquin

Located within the Tourist Office, on two floors, the Museum of the Bastides of Monflanquin is the last part of the program presented on the occasion of the regional competition "Stations Bastides" of which Monflanquin was the winner in 1990.

This project is part of a global policy to develop the Bastide of Monflanquin, combining heritage and modernity, cultural projects and economic development, tourism and quality of life.

This Museum underlines the position of Monflanquin on the tourist axis Périgord - Agenais and marks the constant will of exchanges between Dordogne and Lot-et-Garonne.
The Museum of the Bastides invites you to discover the South-West through its medieval history, a time of profound social, political and urban changes which these villages have kept.

The Museum allows visitors to understand the historical conditions in which these "new towns" of the Middle Ages were born, thanks to explanatory panels in French and English, models, audio and visual aids, children's materials, and contemporary sculptures, all of which allow visitors to understand the rational urban planning of these towns and their role in the medieval society of the time.

The roads of the South-West offer an appreciable number of Bastides rich in their past and their present.
