The Joseph Vaylet Museum, Museum of Popular Arts and Traditions

Joseph Vaylet, a major of Félibrige, a disciple of Frédéric Mistral, contributed to the rebirth of Occitan culture in Aveyron, notably by collecting a great many objects throughout his life.
The Joseph Vaylet Museum houses a veritable cabinet of curiosities where you will find objects that bear witness to the Occitan culture, such as traditional musical instruments, craftsmen's tools, objects of daily life, and objects of worship, including an astonishing collection of more than 300 bedside stoup.
The atmosphere of olden days wakes is recreated through the reconstruction of a traditional Rouergat interior and its "cantou" surrounded by objects that bear witness to life in the past.
The Joseph Vaylet Museum is located, like the Museum of the diving suit, in the former church of Saint-Jean-Baptiste dating from the 15th and 16th centuries, whose east entrance portal and west facade are listed as Historic Monuments.
